Bridge run set for Oct. 1

The Bridge Run, a 5-kilometer run and one-mile walk on the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge, will take place Oct. 1 in conjunction with events to celebrate the Southeast Missourian's centennial.

The race will start and finish at Fountain Street and Highway 74 by the Southeast Missouri State University river campus.

Registration is $12 by Sept. 23 and includes a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt. On the day of the race, registration will be $15.

Triathlon event will close roads

The Trail of Tears Triathlon, set for today in the Trail of Tears State Park, will force the closing of interior roads in the park from 9 a.m. until around noon.

The event includes a half-mile swim, a 15-mile bicycle ride and a four-mile run.
