Jackson softball meeting set for Tuesday

The Jackson men's softball league will have a meeting 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stooges Restaurant in Jackson.

The league has openings for new teams. The league plays a 25- to 30-game schedule and has no sponsor fees.

Teams pay $15 per player with a 16-player minimum. League fees are due at the meeting.

Doctor-Lawyer game on tap for Saturday

The 13th annual Doctor-Lawyer Basketball Showdown is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Central High School's gymnasium.

The doctors are riding a four-game winning streak and are 10-2 in the series.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12. Proceeds from the event benefit the Commuity Counseling Center Foundation.
