O'Brien, Moore team up for low gross crown

Casey O'Brien and Liz Moore combined to shoot a low gross score of 76 at Dalhousie Golf Club to place first in the Rebecca's Run two-day golf event.

The tournament featured scramble play on Tuesday and four-ball with handicap scoring on Wednesday to determine the scoring.

Harriett Myers and Diane Fowler won the low net championship flight. They shot a 68 in the scramble and posted a score of 68 in the four-ball for a 136 total.

Roberta Sentel and Brenda Rendleman, who had shot a 67 in the scramble, had a 76 in the net for a 143 total.

O'Brien and Moore had shot 68 in the scramble.

Carol Largent and Karen Matthews scrambled for an 80 and posted a 71 net to win the A flight at 151. Alice Temm and Jane Kirk finished one stroke back with a 79 scramble and 73 net.

Eileen Owens and Deanna Estes won the B flight with a 150. They followed their 82 scramble with a 68 net to finish at 150, six strokes ahead of Lou Ann Kiefner and Kathy Morris.

In the C flight, Betty DeWitt and Nancy Settles won with a 157. They had an 85 in the scramble and a 72 net. Robin Davis and Patty Ralph finished second at 163.

Burnett medalist in Chip A Ways play

Sissy Burnett earned medalist honors Tuesday in Chip A Ways women's golf action at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Jean Graham won the B flight and Carolyn Blechle had the low putts. The play of the day -- most 5s -- resulted in multiple ties.
