Road Runners club doles out annual honors
Ron Duff and Susan Richmond captured runner of the year honors at the Cape Girardeau Road Runners annual awards banquet.
About 50 members of the Road Runners club, which promotes running in Southeast Missouri, attended the event Jan. 28 at Buckner Brewing Co. in downtown Cape Girardeau.
Duff was named Male Runner of the Year, while Richmond won female honors. Both ran personal records in the marathon last year and qualified for the 2006 Boston Marathon.
The Golden Shoe Award was presented to Bob Whitehead. Junior Road Runner of the Year went to James Fulgium, who competed for the Cape Junior Road Runners and placed 20th at AAU nationals in the 3.000-meter run. Bryan Kelpe was the Volunteer of the Year.
The Missouri Department of Conservation is presenting a free workshop on deer and turkey management at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Clinton Building in Sikeston. To register, call Rita Gibson at (573) 649-9930.
