Three Heartland teams win at home meet
Three Heartland Gymnastics teams posted first-place finishes in the Heartland Invite last weekend in Cape Girardeau.
The meet attracted more than 100 gymnasts from six gyms, including entries from Tennessee and Arkansas.
Heartland's Level 2, Level 3 and Level 5 teams placed first. The Level 4 team placed second.
For the Level 2 team, Hannah Landewe, Brylee Morse and Sophia Wojdylo all had first-place finishes in the all-around.
In Level 3, Sierra Jones, Macie Borgfield and Bailey Watkins were first-place all-around finishers.
Molly McConnell and Ariel Dumars were first in the all-around on Level 4.
Cassie Hindman and Alyssa Garner were first in Level 5 all-around competition.

Lilly Edwards (5) -- first in uneven bars and floor exercise; second in vault, balance beam and all-around.
Brenna Hahn (6) -- second in floor; third in vault, bars and all-around; fourth in beam.
Sloane Johnson (7-8) -- second in bars and beam; third in vault and all-around; fourth in floor.
Hannah Landewe (5) -- first in all-around, floor and vault; second in bars and beam.

Karsen Powers (10) -- second in vault; third in bars, fourth in beam and all-around; fifth in floor.
Alyssa Garner (9 and under) -- first in all-around, vaults, bars, beam and floor.
Alexia Phillips (11) -- second in bars; third in floor and all-around; fourth in beam; fifth in vault.
Hannah Litwicki (11) -- second in beam, floor and all-around; third in vault and bars.
Sydney Deneke (9 and under) -- second in vault, beam and floor.
The 13th annual Doctors vs. Lawyers Basketball Showdown is scheduled for 5 p.m. March 18 at the Central High School gymnasium.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for those under 12. All proceeds benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation.
A postgame party is set for 7 to 9 p.m. at Gatherings Cafe in the Marquette Tower, 338 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Tickets are $20 and include admission to the game.
