Williams aces No. 18 at Cape Jaycees course
Jeff Williams fired a hole in one Wednesday on the 18th hole at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
He used a 5-iron on the 177-yard par-3 finishing hole.
Witnesses were J.R. Richardson and Butch Smiley.
Joellen Haas won the play of the day -- best score on odd holes -- Tuesday in the J.C. Chip-A-Ways women's golf action at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
Sissy Burnett was the medalist. Sharon Dow and Marjie Kurre tied atop the A flight, while Fern Trickey won the B flight.
Jean Graham had the low putts.
Twenty-four women participated.
The Kelly cross country team's inaugural alumni cross country run is set for 8 this morning with a 1-mile walk/run followed by a 3.1-mile run.
The race will cover the school's cross country course, which begins beside the elementary playground, 4035 Highway 77.
The entry fee is a powdered Gatorade or a donation to the Kelly cross country program.
Joey Mack of Benton, Mo., competed in four events in the Mid America Racing Series dirt-track racing series in August, with a best finish of 11th at Tri-City Spreedway in Granite City, Ill.
