Gary Lynch recently made his first hole-in-one at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Lynch used a 9-iron to ace No. 8, a par 3 playing 135 yards.
Witnesses were Chris Gross, Alan Benton and Tom Benton.
Neff fires hole-in-one at Dalhousie
Bob Neff of Cape Girardeau recently scored his first hole-in-one at Dalhousie Golf Club.
Neff used an 8-iron to ace No. 11, a par 3 playing 151 yards.
Mike Kohlfeld witnessed the shot.
Johnson earns medalist at Kimbeland
Barb Johnson claimed the medalist honor in the women's weekly golf event at Kimbeland Country Club.
Play of the day was low net score. Flight winners were Sissy Donohue (championship), Karen Heisel (A), Dorothy Holland (B) and Shelia George (C).
Coad, Rust tie in quota tournament
Tim Coad and Jim Rust tied for first at plus-8 in the men's quota tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.
Jerry Stone was third at plus-4, while Mike Bennett and Phil Cantoni tied at plus-3.
Boies, Coads win Labor Day scramble
The foursome of Mark Boie, Emily Boie, Tim Coad and Jennifer Coad shot 60 to win a Labor Day coed scramble at Dalhousie Golf Club.
Cord Dombrowski, Ann Dombrowski, Joe Belote and Linda Belote were a stroke back at 61 with the foursome of Ian Soutar, Corrine Soutar, Rob Younghouse and Laura Younghouse, which had the low-putt total of 18.
Cook, Backfisch win horseshoe tournament
Lachelle Cook and Jerome Backfisch won the SEMO Horseshoe Association tournament Saturday at the Benton (Mo.) Neighbor Day.
Rose Kern and Lester Powell placed second, while Melissa Turner and Larry Glastetter placed third.
On Sunday, Cook and Tim Bryant won the competition at the Oran Jaycees.
Charles Urhahn and Powell finished second, and Diane Menz and Larry Glastetter took third.
The next tournaments will be Saturday at the Bell City picnic and Sunday at the Oran Knights of Columbus.
Jones earns medalist honors at country club
Marlena Jones captured the medalist honors at the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Women's Golf Association's weekly outing.
It was beat the pro day and the players who beat the pro were Mary Alice Regenhardt, Joyce Kuntze, Linda Tewis, Luanne Kiefner, Jones, Dana Underwood and Pat Strom.
Hammes wins 8-mile race, overall title
Scott City's Kevin Hammes set a new course record at the Tamms, Ill., 8-mile race at Egyptian High School.
Hammes finished in 49 minutes, 7 seconds.
The race was the fourth race in the SplitMaster summer racing series.
Tegel team captures first place at benefit
The team of Bill Tegel, Jeff Grant, Richie Throgmorton and Nick Niemeyer won the morning championship flight at the Friends of Saint Francis benefit golf tournament at Bent Creek Golf Course.
The team of Dave Christante, Dan Atkinson, Joe McLemore and John McLemore was second while the team of Jim Whistler, Greg Klund, Brent Anderson and Travis Demarest finished third.
In A flight, the team of Drew Martin, Jarett Stafford, Damiam Erzfeld and Jon Coleman took first followed by the team of Phil Weber, Chris Kolb, Jen Farnham and Diana Brown and the team of Don Wright, Michael Dimarco, Tim Whalen and Don Rapp.
In B flight, the team of Joe Ewers, Howard McIntyre, Mitchell White and Don Beard brought home the title, followed by the team of John O'Brien, Rock Finch, Steve Marchbanks and Bernie Heffernon and the team of Diane Gammon, Sandy Campbell, Kevin Probst and Patrick Elfrink.
There was a three-way tie for first place in the afternoon championship flight with the winner decided by a random drawing. First place went to Ian Soutar, Ben Brumitt, Jeff Roosman and Brian Sheehan. Second place went to Nick Kramer, Donnie Chester, Brent Holmes and Heath Peters while third place went to Steven Bjelich, Jason Siener, Chris Montgomery and Bryan Johnson.
In A flight, the team of Jason Harrell, Mike York, Josh Lee and Tom Lee took first place, followed by the team of Chris Bowen, Jim Childress, Steve Price and Willie Beckett and the team of Adam Bertrand, Robert Lents, Rickey Lents and Corey Rentfrow.
In B flight, the team of Teri Thomas, William Ray Silliman, Dan Carns and Gordon Jones were victorious, followed by the team of Jim McElreath, Andy Garamella, Mary Kistner and Jeana Koch and the team of Bill Zellmer, Cliff Green, Elmer Brown and Gary Baule.
Heisel scores hole-in-one
Jackson's Karen Heisel recorded her second career ace on hole No. 12 at Kimbeland Country Club. Heisel used a wedge on the 86-yard hole.
Dorothy Holland, Mindy Pulley and Sharon McCune witnessed the shot.
