Charleston team wins Slamfest title

Bird & Associates, a team featuring players from Charleston, regained its Slamfest title over the weekend.

With tournament MVP Vinnie Biles leading the way, Bird & Associates defeated defending champion Ron Jones State Farm 50-45 in Sunday's title contest.

Bird & Associates lost to Ron Jones State Farm in last year's championship game after having captured the crown in 2001.

Hayden hits hole in one at Kimbeland C.C.

Elaine Hayden of Jackson recently carded a hole in one at Kimbeland Country Club.

Hayden used a 7-wood to ace No. 8, a par 3 playing 135 yards. Witnesses were Norm Hayden, Mona Williams and Billy Williams.-- From staff reports
