Scott sets American record

Susan Beth Scott set the Paralympic American record in the 800-meter freestyle at the Central Zone Championship meet in Noblesville, Ind.

Scott touched the wall in 9 minutes, 35.65 seconds. She also finished second in the girls 15 and older 2-mile open water event, where she finished in 41:22.66.

Ramsey Scott finished second in the boys 13 and 14 2.414-kilometer open water event. He finished in 29:48.31.

Gators finish second at Junior Olympics

The Gators Swim Team sent 23 swimmers to the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Des Moines, Iowa, and captured second place.

Gabriela Vieira led the Gators with 12 first-place finishes while Kristian Troxel added 10.

Natalie King led the Perryville Piranhas with two firsts.

Pourney scores hole-in-one

Jackson's Leroy Pourney used a 9-iron to card an ace on hole No. 18 at Kimbeland Country Club. The hole was playing 128 yards.

Tim Maevers, Rodney Miller and Al Ervin witnessed the shot.

It was Pourney's second career hole-in-one.

Kiefner captures medalist honors

Luanne Kiefner earned the medalist honors at the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Ladies Day weekly outing.

Linda Tewis placed first followed by Kiefner and Marlena Jones.

Kathy Morris was the medalist the previous week, while Morris, Betty Michel and E.R. Fischer were the pink ball team winner.
