WILSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Scott County defeated the Pacific Northwest champions 4-1 in the Babe Ruth 12 and under Softball World Series on Wednesday.

Scott County managed only two hits in the game, but scored three unearned runs in the fifth to grab the win. Casey Kern pitched all six innings for Scott County. Kern allowed one run on five hits.

Offensively Allison Peters was 1-for-2 and scored two runs. Jodi Urhahn added the other hit for Scott County.

Williams claims win at Chip-A-Ways event

Linda Williams won the Chip-A-Ways' weekly outing at Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Mary Higgins captured B flight while Evelyn Riley won Play of the Day -- Most 5's. Waunita VanDyke posted the low-putt total.
