Keys earns third trip to nationals
Jackson's Tyler Keys earned his third consecutive trip to the 2008 Teen Masters high school national bowling tournament by winning the qualifying tournament.
Keys is one of 10 from Missouri to qualify, and he earned his trip at the qualifying tournament in Fort Smith, Ark.
He averaged 187 in his six games, and rolled a 268 to win his last game by seven pins.
The national tournament is later this month in Las Vegas.
Slaten takes first in division
Brett Slaten shot a 72 to win the 16 to 18 boys 18-hole Tour division at the PGA Gateway Junior Series golf tournament Monday at Kimbeland Country Club.
Alex Reid was second (76), followed by Caleb Moss (78).
Jessica Houseman shot a 102 to win the girls 16 to 19 Tour division.
The next tournament is scheduled for today in Poplar Bluff.

Williamses team to win horseshoe event
Melody Williams and Martin Williams combined to win the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association tournament at the Oran Fourth of July picnic.
Lachelle Cook and Larry Glastetter took second, while Ken Davies and Richard Diebold were third.
Wesley Stoverink and Martin Williams were victorious at the tournament Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Leopold.
Amy Pobst and James Hillis were second, while Cori Stoverink and Melissa Glastetter were third.
Cape Junior Legion wins in tourney
The Cape Girardeau Plaza Tire American Legion junior team knocked off Sikeston 13-4 on Tuesday in the first round of the District 14 tournament at Kennett.
Ronnie Scott was the winning pitcher while James Obermark had two hits and drove in two runs.
Fourth-seeded Cape (23-17) advances to play top-seeded and host Dunklin County today at 8 p.m.
Also today, second-seeded Scott County and third-seeded Jackson square off at 5:30 p.m.
