Cape Sr. Legion downs Jackson

The Cape Girardeau Post 63 Ford & Sons Senior American Legion baseball team defeated Jackson Post 158 11-3 on Sunday in the consolation bracket of the Paragould, Ark., tournament.

Ronnie Scott allowed two earned run over four innings to grab the win. Mason Sander suffered the loss.

Jake Pewitt went 2 for 3 with a home run, while Jimmy Obermark went 4 for 4 with two RBIs in the win. Trenton St. Cin smashed a grand slam, and Blake Smith knocked in a pair for Post 63 (29-10).

Senciboys team captures title

The father/daughter team of Randy Senciboy and Randi Senciboy placed first at the SEMO Horseshoe Association tournament at the Oran Knights of Columbus picnic.

The team of Jason Rains and Kenny Davie took second, while Virgil Schreckenberg and Glen Backfisch placed third in the 29-team event.

The next tournament is Sunday at the Leopold Knights of Columbus.

Howard places first at flag tourney

Greg Howard took first place at the Fourth of July flag tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Pat Evans took second, while Aaron Dombrowski was third.

Deanna Estes won the women's division, while Terri Parmly was second.

Morris, Miller capture first at golf outing

The team of Kathy Morris and Carol Miller took first place at the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Women's Golf Association's weekly outing.

Judi Brey and Sheryl Bollinger took second, while Dana Underwood and Cindy Schmoll were third.

Cape Jr. Legion routs Paducah

Adam Pennington and Logan Henson combined on a one-hitter Monday as the Cape Girardeau Post 63 Plaza Tire Junior American Legion baseball team won 11-1 in six innings against Paducah, Ky.

Pennington, the winning pitcher, struck out seven in the first three innings. He did not allow a hit. Henson allowed one hit and struck out four over the final three innings for the save.

Christian Cavaness went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, while Justin Modglin hit an inside-the-park home run.
