Leighton, Deneke win Homecomer 5K

Roy Leighton and Sidney Deneke were the top overall winners in the Jackson Homecomer 5K race.

Leighton, who ran cross country at Cape Girardeau Central, finished the course in 17 minutes, 14 seconds to finish first among male participants, while, Tori Parry, who also runs cross country and will be a senior at Jackson High School, won the female division in 22:04.

William Zoughaib of Perryville established a course record in winning the boys 1-mile race in 6:02. Anastasia Comptom won the girls race in 6:56.
