Swinford fires ace during Big Kahuna

The team of Phil Cantoni, Cord Dombrowski, David Babcock and Bob Gile posted a six-shot victory Saturday at the Big Kahuna event at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Jim Rust, Tom Metheny, David Hahs and Jerry Stone finished second. Ben Cantrell, Ken Swinford, Ray Laidet and Ken Carmode placed third.

The closest-to-the-pin competition included a hole-in-one by Swinford, who aced No. 11. Swinford used a 6-iron on the 170-yard hole for his eighth career ace. Other hole winners were Terry Farrow (No. 5), Babcock (No. 8) and Mark Hogan (No. 13).

Davis claims title at Settles Memorial

Robin Davis won the Nancy Settles Memorial, a tournament Thursday at Dalhousie Golf Club that consisted solely of par 3s.

Sheila Cunningham placed second and Ann Dombroski was third.

Closest-to-the-hole winners were Deanna Estes (No. 4), Bev Metheny (No. 8), Carol Largent (No. 11) and Shiela Cunningham (No. 17).

Edwards, Pettet, Davises win tourney

The foursome of Mike Edwards, Lyle Davis, Robin Davis and Jack Pettet claimed first place in championship flight at the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation golf tournament Friday at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Roger Mealy, Ron Seabaugh, Kevin Bocek and Justin Bocek finished second.
