Litzelfelner wins Junior Amateur

Jack Litzelfelner of Jackson won the boys 14-15 age division at the Missouri Golf Association's Junior Amateur Championship earlier this week at the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo.

Litzelfelner, who recently won the Missouri Class 3 championship his freshman season at Notre Dame and advanced to the round of 32 at last month's Missouri Amateur as the youngest player in the field, posted rounds of 71 and 70 on the par-72 Posse Course. Litzelfelner finished seven shots ahead of Michael O'Keefe of St. Louis.

Litzelfelner tied for second overall, four shots behind future University of Kansas golfer Chase Hannah of Leawood, Kan., who won the 16-18 division.

Eli Pike of Jackson tied for 14th in the boys 16-18 division (75-73--148), while Luke Kinder of Cape Girardeau tied for 36th (76-79--155). Levi Gotto of Perryville, Mo., tied for 67th (86-80--166) and Caleb Hightower of Jackson tied for 79th (84-89--173).

Samantha Hightower of Jackson tied for 21st in the girls 16-18 division (93-86--179) on the par-72 Outlaw Çourse.

Allison Bray of Jackson won the girls 12-13 division (77-82--159). Jaden Hightower of Jackson placed second in the boys 12-13 division (81-75--156).

Kiefner, Largent win WGA scramble

Luanne Kiefner and Carol Largent won the two-person scramble at the Women's Golf Association's weekly event at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

The team of Judi Brey and Marlena Jones tied for second place with Mary Sue Layton and Sheryl Bollinger.
