Worley takes first in sprint division

Tommy Worley finished first among 14 cars to win the sprint cars division at Benton RacePark on Friday.

Brian Worley won the modifieds division, Chris Webb took first in the pure street and Justin McCallister was first in the pro-4.

Jackson Babe Ruth earns trip to state

The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team split a doubleheader with New Madrid on Tuesday to earn a trip to the state tournament in Farmington.

Jackson (19-10) won the first game 14-4 behind Chris Roth's complete-game effort. Garrett Fritsche smacked a grand slam to help power Jackson.

New Madrid won the second game 7-3. Spencer Sander had a two-run double in the loss.

The trip to the state tournament is Jackson's first since 2005. It clinched its berth by finishing second in the SEMO South Conference.
