Mealy tops field in ladies tourney
Deb Mealy finished first in the Cape Girardeau Country Club ladies handicap tournament, which was played Wednesday and Thursday.
Mary Jane Eftink was second, Cathy Morris third and Marlena Jones fourth.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Morris on Nos. 2 and 6, Shirley Moore on No. 11 and Mary Ellen Bean on No. 13.
Johnson earned honors at Kimbeland
Barbara Johnson was the medalist Thursday in the Kimbeland Ladies Golf League. Johnson won the championship flight.
The play of the day was "most 3s, 4s and 5s."
Other winners were: Dorothy Holland in the A flight; Janis Gilbert, Maggie Niswonger and Sue Zoll tied in the B flight.
Dow medalist for Chip-A-Ways
Sharon Dow was the medalist this week in the Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course Chip-A-Ways. Sissy Barnett wont the play of the day.
Carol Brown and Liz Grimes tied for the B flight honors. Linda Williams won the low putts.
Gill scores an ace
Dottie Gill hit a hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 4 at Ste. Genevieve Country Club.
Gill scored her ace in a four-person scramble while playing with Betty Roth, Cissie Erlbacher and Sis Winkler. The team won the B class.
Mack wins feature at Poplar Bluff
Joey Mack of Benton, Mo., won the late model feature on May 29 at Poplar Bluff Speedway. Mack races on the Mid America Racing Series circuit.
Also winning May 29 at Poplar Bluff was the cruiser class tandem of Trankler and Bartles, from Cape Girardeau.
Other winners: Greg Casey in pure street, Robert Powers in super street and Larry Hull in modified.
