Corey Connell of Cape Girardeau finished second in the men's graduate division at the two-day Accelerated Golf Tour event that concluded Wednesday at Dalhousie Golf Club.
Connell, who had rounds of 77 and 74, finished three strokes behind Drew Novara of Murphysboro, Ill., who shot a pair of 2-over-par 74s for a 148 total.
Gunnar Knudtson (86-81--167) of Cape Girardeau tied for 10th, while Jake Seabaugh (84-93--177) of Cape Girardeau tied for 17th.
Emily Matthews of Cape Girardeau won the collegiate women's division in a playoff with Morgan Bucher of Paducah, Ky. Both players finished with two-day totals of 173. Matthews had rounds of 86 and 87.
Andrew Mitchell (76-74--150) of Benton, Ill., won the collegiate men's division by one stroke.
Madison Connell (100-91--191) of Murray, Ky., claimed first in the graduate women's division. Kelly Welker (100-93--193) of Perryville, Mo., finished second.
Gabby Vieira of Cape Girardeau broke 10 Gator Swim Team records in the girls 13-14 age group at the Indianapolis Summer Invitational last weekend at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis. Vieira won the high-point award in her age division by winning all 11 of her events: 50 freestyle (28.60 seconds), 100 freestyle (1:00.37), 200 freestyle (2:11.35), 400 freestyle (4:35.30), 1,500 freestyle (17:47.04), 100 backstroke (1:08.64), 200 backstroke (2:29.22), 100 butterfly (1:03.78), 200 IM (2:32.35), 400 IM (5:19.25) and 200 butterfly.
Helen Wojdylo also claimed a first in the 200 breaststroke.
Second-place finishes were turned in by Brogan Davis (50 backstroke, Gator record boys 11-12), Matthew Snyder (1,500 freestyle) and Stephen Sugarbaker (1,500 freestyle).
Third-place finishes were achieved by Phoebe Law (100 and 200 freestyle, 200 IM) and Kristian Troxel (1,500 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 400 IM).
The Gators finished eighth in the 23-team field.
The Cape Junior American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Jackson on Tuesday.
Cape won the opener 8-6 behind the complete-game pitching of Ross James.
Ramsey Scott went 3 for 4 for Cape (9-11), while Thomas Crocetti and Austin Caldwell both had two hits and two RBIs.
Jackson won the nightcap 9-3. Logan Henson took the loss. Caldwell had a triple.
