Jackson Junior Legion sweeps Charleston

The Jackson Junior Legion baseball team posted 11-3 and 10-5 victories over the Charleston Babe Ruth 16s on Sunday at Herzog Stadium.

Jeremiach McGuire threw a complete game in the opener for the win.

Cameron Duke had three hits for Jackson, while Jay Hutchison and Triston Thele both had two.

Seth Bollinger pitched four innings of scoreless relief in the nightcap for the win.

Jackson improved to 21-1.

Vickery, Mouser claim Kimbeland ladies event

Susan Vickery and Terri Mouser won the Wednesday Night Ladies League event at Kimbeland Country Club.

The duo finished with a score of 28 to edge out the teams of Lillian Sneider and JoAnne Williams and Janet Verhines and Wanda Verhines, who both had 29.

Carol Weinrich was the closest-to-the-pin winner, while Vickie Dye won longest putt.

Woolard wins Gateway Junior event at Jaycee

Nick Woolard shot a 71 to claim the top prize in the boys 16 to 19 Tour division at the first Gateway PGA Junior Series event to be played at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course last week.

Brian Whitson placed second with a 78 and Ryan West was third at 80.

Nick Westrich won the boys 14-15 Tour division by eight strokes with a 72. Brandon Wagner was second at 80, while Karsten Short was third at 85.

Analiese Pyland won the girls 14-15 Tour division with a 100.

Regular 18-hole winners were Nate Woolard (75, boys 12-13), Carson Miles (83, boys 14-15) and Grant Woodfin (96, boys 16-19). Nine-hole winners were Cy Worley (46, boys 10-11), Spencer Warren (39, boys 12-13) and Kathryn Taylor (65, girls 10-11).

Gieblers, Froemsdorf, Bock win scramble

The team of Lewis Bock, Brevin Giebler, Paul Giebler and Tom Froemsdorf won the recent 14-team Young Life four-person scramble at Dalhousie Golf Club with a 55.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Peter Blakeslee (No. 5) and Matthew Rissle (No. 13). Adam Lotz (No. 16) owned the longest drive, while Bob Denton won the putting contest.
