Litzelfelner wins golf tournament

Jackson's Jack Litzelfelner III shot a 77 to win the Tennessee Junior Callaway state championship golf tournament.

Litzelfelner's victory earned him a spot in the Callaway Junior World Championships next month at the Riverwalk Golf Club in San Diego.

Litzelfelner also earned a spot in The Optimist International Junior Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., by finishing second in the Missouri Optimist state qualifier.

Williams, Pobst team for victory

The team of Danny Williams and Amy Pobst combined to win the SEMO Horseshoe Association's six-team tournament at the Backyard Club.

The team of Virgil Schreckenberg and Randy Senciboy was second, while Joe Keller and Carolyn Schreckenberg took third.

The team of Larry Glastetter and Lachelle Cook took first place in the 12-team tournament at the Oran Knights of Columbus.

The team of Edgar Stoverink and Cori Stoverink placed second, while Ron LeGrand and Senciboy were third.

The next tournament is scheduled for Saturday at the Scott City Knights of Columbus.

Windeknecht wins Furry 5K

Joe Windeknecht won the Fitness Plus Furry 5K in 19 minutes, 58 seconds.

Ashley Schmittzche was the top female finisher, crossing the line in 22:49.
