Southeast Missouri State sophomore Savannah Carpenter was selected to the all-Ohio Valley Conference first team for softball, while junior Haylee Crack was named to the all-newcomer team.
Carpenter, a utility and designated player, established a single-season record for batting average at Southeast, hitting .424. Carpenter led the team with nine doubles and hit six home runs. She finished with 29 RBIs and scored 17 runs.
Krack, a third baseman, led the Redhawks with 10 home runs, which ranked third in the OVC. She scored a team-high 25 runs and ranked second with 27 RBIs.
Jacksonville State, the OVC regular-season champion and the top seed in this week's conference tournament, earned three top individual awards. Sara Borders was voted the OVC Player of the Year; Tiffany Harbin was selected Pitcher of the Year; and Jane McGinnis was chosen Coach of the Year.
UT-Martin outfielder Carly Gonzales was named the conference's top freshman.
Cape Girardeau native Vince Friese finished a career-best third place in the final 250SX East standings on the AMA Supercross circuit.
Friese finished 10th in Saturday's race in Las Vegas to improve his season-points total to 131.
Justin Bogle of Cushing, Oklahoma, placed first with 188 points, followed by Martin Davalos of Cairo, Georgia. Friese's previous season-best finish was fourth in 2013.
