Linda Williams placed first in A flight at the Chip-A-Ways weekly golf outing at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Harriet Martin and Marilyn Turner tied for first in B flight.

Bev Wink had the play of the day, while Vickie Howard and Carolyn Blechle tied for lowest putts.

Post 63 splits first two games

The Ford & Sons Cape Girardeau American Legion Post 63 baseball team opened its season Saturday with a 10-9 loss to Rock Memorial of Imperial, Mo.

Trey Gardner went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Nick Essner drove in three runs.

Andrew Williams allowed eight hits and struck out seven over five innings.

Post 63 defeated Eureka 15-5 in five innings later in the day.

Jesse Schott went 4 for 4 with a double and five RBIs to pace Post 63. Essner added three hits, while Thomas Crocetti and Luke Hinkebein both had two.

The team of Alice Temm, Bev Metheny and Phyllis Seabaugh shot a 71 to win the Ladies Scramble at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Deanna Estes, Eileen Owens and Betty DeWitt carded a 77 for second place.

Braswell, Rose team for victory

The team of Travis Braswell and Terrie Rose won the SEMO Horseshoe Association's 16-team tournament at the Jackson Knights of Columbus.

The team of Dale Burger and Lachelle Cook placed second, while Jason Rains and Ken Hinkebein finished third.

The next tournament is scheduled for Friday at the Scott City Knights of Columbus.

Myers team wins scramble

The team of Alice Temm, Brevin Giebler and William and Harriette Myers shot a 57 to win the Memorial Day scramble at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Harriette Myers used an 11-wood to score a hole-in-one on hole No. 5. It was playing 136 yards, and it was her fourth career ace.

The team of Jerry and Nancy Stone and Leon and Mary Jane Eftink carded a 62 for second place, while the team of Clay and Sheila Crosson and Dickey and Cathy Nutt shot a 62 for third.

Dick and Kim Swartz and Bob and Barb Ward had the low putts with 22.
