Metheny scores hole in one

What a birthday present for Marble Hill's Tom Metheny.

Metheny recorded his second career hole in one on his birthday Sunday. He used a 5-iron to ace hole No. 12 at Kimbeland Country Club. The hole was playing 150 yards.

Bev Metheny, Joe Belote and Linda Metheny witnessed the shot.

Williams, Backfisch win horseshoe event

Danny Williams and Glenn Backfisch teamed to win the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association event at the Knights of Columbus in Scott City.

Melody Williams and Martin Williams took second, while Rose Kern and Wesley Stoverink were third.

Lachelle Cook and Marvin Margrabe teamed to win the event at the Knights of Columbus in Jackson.

Lester Powell and Carolyn Schreckenberg took second, while Cori Stoverink and Joe Keller teamed for third.
