Williams transfers to Hannibal-LaGrange

Notre Dame Regional High School graduate Ty Williams is transferring to Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal, Mo., to play soccer.

Williams started his college career at the University of Richmond, a Division I university. He started nine games and played in 16 for the Spiders as a sophomore. He led the team in assists as a freshman.

Williams, a forward, helped lead Notre Dame to the Class 2 state title in 2006 and 2007. He also was a starter on the Bulldogs' 2008 Class 4 boys basketball state championship team.

Dore wins Furry 5K

Ben Dore won the Fitness Plus Furry 5K for runners and their pets.

Dore covered the course at Capaha Park in 20 minutes, 39 seconds.

Tiffany Smith was the top female finisher in 24:55.

Williams, Bean capture title

The team of Danny Williams and Joe Bean won the SEMO Horseshoe Association's tournament at the Backyard Club.

Roy Tidwell and Cori Stoverink were second, while the team of Lester Powell and Carolyn Schreckenberg was third in the nine-team tournament.

The Scott City Knights of Columbus will host a tournament Saturday, while the Jackson Knights of Columbus will host a tournament Sunday.

Reid scores hole-in-one

Jackson's Alex Reid used a pitching wedge to record a hole-in-one on hole No. 4 at Kimbeland Country Club.

The hole was playing 134 yards.

Loyd Hitt, T.J. Reid and Terry Reid witnessed the shot.

It was the first ace of Reid's career.
