Slaten team captures first

The team of Steve Slaten, Alan Benton, Lance Cotner and Keith Middleton won the Cape Girardeau Country Club's Men's Golf Association's monthly ABCD event, a best-ball tournament.

The team finished with a 26-under par.

Jerry Bushelman, Jerry Brey, John Holcomb and Fred Ducharme took second with a 24-under par, while Steve Ross, Phil Moore and Tim Blattner took third.

Strong, Engelhart win Kimbeland scramble

Ronnie Strong and Bob Engelhart won the two-man scramble at Kimbeland Country Club on Saturday.

Strong and Englehart shot a 63 to finish two strokes ahead of the teams of Brett McDowell and Peyton Sims and Ken Hosea and Ben McKuin.

The tournament included a hole in one by Wayne Steffens, who aced No. 6. Steffens, of Cape Girardeau, used a 6-iron from 150 yards for his second career hole in one.

Gordon Feeney, Bob Hedden and Lloyd Hitt witnessed the shot.

Vickie Long captured medalist honors at the Kimbeland Ladies Association weekly golf outing.

Harriet Drusch took first in the championship flight, Karen Heisel won A flight, Dorothy Holland placed first in B flight, while Mary Rose James won the C flight.

Williams and Kern take home first

Martin Williams and Rose Kern won first place in the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Assosciation tournament held at Oran City Park.

Joe Keller and Edgar Stoverink placed second, while Joe Bean and Randy Senciboy finished third.

Lachelle Cook and Larry Glastetter earned first-place honors in the tournament at the Oran Knights of Columbus.

Amy Pobst and Cori Stoverink took second, while Mike Kluesner and Mike Massa came in third.

Buckley, Worley, Webb, Turner win divisions

Kent Buckley, Brian Worley, Chris Webb and Jeff Turner each won their races at the Benton Racepark on Saturday.

Buckley won the sprint division, Worley won the modified division, Webb captured the pure street division and Turner took home first in the pro-4 division.

Scott City's Probst wins division

Heath Probst of Scott City won the 13- and 14-year-olds division of the Pitch, Hit and Run competition held Saturday at Arena Park.

Chaffee's Layton Tenkhoff won the 11 and 12 division, Scott City's Trent Pobst won the 9 and 10 division, while Chaffee's Drew Reischman won the 7 and 8 division.

The winners advanced to the sectional competition in Fenton, Mo.
