May, Brown win weekly Chip-A-Ways golf event

Glendella May won the Class A competition in the weekly Chip-A-Ways golf event Tuesday. Carol Brown won the Class B competition.

Mary Van Cleve won the low putts award. Shirley Glastetter had the play of the day.

Gators host long-course meet this weekend

The Gator Swim Team of Cape Girardeau will host more than 200 swimmers for the Gator Long Course Kickoff Pentathalon at the Central Municipal Pool starting Friday.

Events Friday and Saturday are open events for ages 13 and over. Sunday's events are for all ages and will be in a pentathalon format in which swimmers compete in five events each and are judged based on a cumulative time.

Four events are scheduled for late Friday, followed by the bulk of competition at 9 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
