Jeanna Tollison of Jackson rolled a 300 on Wednesday at Perryville.

Kohlfeld Scorpions hammer Principia

The Kohlfeld Scorpions trounced the Principia College rugby club 78-0 Saturday on a wet field at Arena Park.

Brendan McClarney, Ian Barnhouse, Denny Genovese, Mark Lineberry, Ben Schwab, Alan Kloss, Scotty Johnston and Carlos Velasco accounted for the Scorpions' scoring. First-year player Andy Chesser was named the match's most valuable player.

The Scorpions play Saturday in a four-team tournament at Central Missouri State University with Central Missouri, Mizzou and Rolla also involved.

Grandy, Vandeven win horseshoes event

Randy Grady and Irv Vandeven teamed up to win the second stop of the Southeast Missouri Horseshoes Assocaition circuit at the American Legion Hall in Benton, Mo.

Thirteen teams took part.

Melody Williams and Ron LeGrand were second; Cori Stoverink and Keith Morrow finished third.

Williams was medalist in J.C. Chip-A-Ways

Linda Williams won medalist honors Tuesday in the J.C. Chip-A-Ways ladies golf league at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Jan Keefe won the B class, Dorothy Gill won the low putts, and Waunita Van Dyke won the play of the day, "most 6s."

Kuntze comes through for Columbia College

Jackson graduate Megan Kuntze helped Columbia College's softball team pick up a pair of victories Friday at the Oklahoma City Classic. Kuntze had a pair of doubles, two RBIs, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Columbia improved to 37-7 and is currently ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA poll.

Kuntze is hitting .341 this season and leads the team with 36 runs scored.

Taylor honored for academics at SIUE

Shawnee High School graduate Doug Taylor was honored at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville's annual Student-Athlete Awards Banquet as an All-American Scholar and a member of the dean's list. The All-American Scholar goes to an athlete with a grade point average of 3.3 or better. Taylor, a freshman member of the SIUE men's basketball team, was redshirted this season. He was one of 11 students in the entire school chosen to be a president's scholar.
