Central High School graduate Tommy McGowan was named to the NAIA men's soccer scholar-athlete list.
McGowan, a junior at Central Methodist University, plays defense for the Eagles.
An athlete must be at least a junior and maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average.
Central High School and Southeast Missouri State graduate Randy Carter recently was inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
Carter, the coach at Jennings High School, boasted a 441-334 career record entering this season.
Carter has been named the Suburban East coach of the year five times and the Class 3 coach of the year in 2000. He's led his team to the final four four times.
Notre Dame Regional High School graduate Ryan Willen was named to the Academic All-District II men's basketball team.
Willen, a junior forward on the Lafayette College men's basketball team, is averaging 10.5 points and 4.0 rebounds for the Leopards.
An athlete must be a starter or significant reserve on the team, be at least a sophomore and maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average to be eligible.
Willen, a neuroscience major, boasts a 3.30 GPA.
