Scott breaks recordat Cincinnati meet
Susan Beth Scott of Cape Girardeau broke a paralympic world record in the 1,500-meter freestyle last weekend at the GTAC Open at the University of Cincinnati. Her time of 18 minutes, 33.86 seconds broke the old mark of 19:04 held by Gemma Daschwood of Australia.
Feeney records aceat Kimbeland C.C.
Gordon Feeney of Jackson carded his second career hole in one Friday at Kimbeland Country Club.
Feeney used a 6-iron to ace No. 8, a par 3 playing 154 yards. Witnesses were Harold Schott, Jesse Eaker and Roger Mocherman.
Cyclewerx team finished ninth
The Cyclewerx Adventure Racing team completed the Ozark Greenways Adventure Race in 7 hours, 36 minutes to finish in ninth place.
The race consisted of mountain biking on roads and trails, running/trekking on trails and roads and an orienteering course where racers used a map and compass to find nine designated checkpoints in remote areas of the forest.
Long brings home medalist honors
Vickie Long was the medalist at the Kimbeland Ladies weekly golf outing.
Sharon McCune, Lillian Schneider and Dixie Jones tied atop A flight, while Dorothy Holland won B flight. Sheila George took first in C flight.
Keefe wins weeklyChip-A-Ways event
Jan Keefe won A flight at the Cape Chip A Ways' weekly outing at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
Bev Wink placed first in B flight, while Glenda Franklin topped C flight. Deanna Peterman posted the low-putt total.
