Herren, Smith win Mardi Gras 5K
Chris Herren and Sandy Smith won the overall titles at the Mardi Gras 5K Walk/Run hosted by the Notre Dame FCCLA.
Herren won the men's title in 15 minutes, 34 seconds, while Smith covered the course in 19:38.

Notre Dame inducts three into hall
Notre Dame Regional High School recently inducted Jeff Beussink, Tim Garner and Greg Rubel into the school's athletics hall of fame.
Beussink, a 1989 graduate, was a member of the school's 1987 state champion basketball team. He led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and assists. He, along with his brother, began their own business, JM Beussink Cabinetry, in 2003.
Garner, a 1993 graduate, played soccer, basketball and baseball. He was the MVP after leading the baseball team to a state title during his senior year. He is a teacher at Notre Dame.
Rubel, a 1993 graduate, played varsity baseball for four years and helped the team to the state title as a senior. He was named all-state for his efforts. He is a physical therapist at The Work Center in Bridgeton, Mo.
Leightons capture top two spots
Roy Leighton and Billy Leighton, both of Cape Girardeau, finished first and second in the open mile at the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department's Super Kids race day.
Roy finished the course in 4 minutes, 57.65 seconds, while Billy finished in 5:10.78.

McClellan wins Presidents Day 5K
Wynn McClellan covered the 5-kilometer course in 16 minutes, 40.59 seconds to win the Presidents Day 5K.
The top female finisher was Kathryn Wyman (23:16.25).
