ND's Fowler earns All-American honor
Alex Fowler, a senior at Notre Dame Regional High School, has been selected as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's High School Scholar All-America soccer team.
Fowler is one of 35 players from around the country selected, and the lone player from Missouri. She was all-region, all-conference and all-district as a sophomore and junior.
Hale captures Snowman crown
Rob Hale of Cape Girardeau defeated Poplar Bluff's Troy Bell in three sets to win the men's open singles division at the Snowman tennis tournament in Jackson.
Hale won 3-6, 6-3, 16-14.
In men's A singles, Jackson's Ish Patel beat Cape Girardeau's Mitch Kinder 6-1, 6-3.
In women's open singles, Cape Girardeau's Kristi Lazarova defeated Sikeston's Penny Hunter 6-2, 6-1.
In men's open doubles, Cape Girardeau's Troy Bell and Lonnie Mobley teamed to beat Jackson's Patel and Shane Anderson 4-6, 6-0, 10-6.
In mixed doubles, Mary Bey Friedheim and Mobley defeated Jan and Mike Keefe of Cape Girardeau 6-0, 0-6, 7-6.
Drum to represent Missouri in Australia
Dylan Ray Drum of Millersville will compete in a cross country tournament in Australia over the summer.
Athletes from the United States, Australia and New Zealand will compete in the Down Under Sports Tournaments.
