Brey, Kiefner team to win championship flight

The team of Judy Brey and Luanne Kiefner teamed to win the championship flight at the Cape Chip-A-Ways Ladies Day tournament Tuesday.

Brey and Kiefner defeated Virginia Watkins and Jo Ella Jones in a playoff.

The team of Sissy Burnett and Sherie Simmons tied with the team of Caryn Michel and Mari Davis for third.

In the A-flight, there was a three-way tie for first place. The team of Helen Ezell and Janie Wheeler, the team of Mary Ellen Bean and Kathy Morris and the team of Doris Bremeyer and Vickie Miller all shot 74s.

In the B-flight, the team of Linda Byrd and Joyce Spoo tied the team of Deanna Peterman and Sharon Dow with 76s. There was a five-way tie for third place. The following teams shot 77s: Joann Williams and Jean Graham; Deb Mealy and Charlotte Arneson; Julie Illner and Leann Vicars; Jackie Anderson and Elaine Hayden; and Caroly Blechle and Clara Schafer.

In the C-flight, Linda Williams and Lil Angle shot a 79 for the victory. There was a four-way tie for second. The following teams shot 80s: Catherine Weed and Jean Mabrey; Mona Williams and Pat Garrison; Beth Mapes and Marcia Wagner; and Robbie Estman and Brenda Govro.

In the D-flight, there was a three-way tie for first. The following teams shot 83s: Nancy Johns and Debbie Gerecke; Glendella May and Carla Ray; and Bonnie Miller and Carol Crawford.

Towns takes first place in golf outing

Helen Ruth Towns finished in first place at the Cape Girardeau Country Club's weekly golf outing.

Judi Brey and Betty Michel tied for second. Luanne Kiefner took fourth.

Central teams to raise funds for cancer research

The Cape Central softball and volleyball teams will host a "Pink Out" this week.

All gate sales from the softball team's game Monday and the volleyball team's match Tuesday will be donated to breast cancer research.

Justin Pobst of Jackson used a 9-iron to record a hole in one on the 156-yard hole No. 18 at Kimbeland Country Club on Thursday.

Marble Hill's Beverly Metheny used a 9-iron to score a hole in one on the 118-yard hole No. 8 at Kimbeland Country Club on Friday.
