Ford &Sons wins in seven over Chaffee

Cape Girardeau Ford and Sons Senior American Legion needed only seven innings to roll past district foe Chaffee 17-1 Wednesday at Capaha Park.

Ford and Sons (20-11) finished with 18 hits, including six doubles. Sean Bard led the attack with a 4-for-5 performance. Bard had two doubles and three RBIs. Matt Wulfers added three hits for Cape. Seth Hudson, Chris Conrad, Josh Ford and Lee Essner had two hits apiece.

Wayne Essner picked up the win for Cape by pitching a complete game. Wayne Essner allowed four hits, struck out seven and walked four.

Cape Junior Legion ends regular season with splits

Cape Girardeau's Cliff's Rent to Own Junior American Legion team ended its regular season with a pair of doubleheader splits Monday and Tuesday.

Cape won 10-2 and lost 16-4 against Dunklin County and won 12-9 and lost 8-4 against Jackson. Cape finished the season 30-13 entering the district tournament this weekend.

Cape won the Paducah (Ky.) Tournament over the weekend with a 11-1 five-inning win over Paducah National Sunday. Jeremy Brinkmeyer two-hit Paducah to get the win. Brinkmeyer also added two hits and Scott Brueckner added a home run for Cape.

Johnson, Belote second at Ste. Genevieve event

Barb Johnson and Betty Belote tied for second in the championship flight of the Ste. Genevieve Golf Course scramble Wednesday.

Peggy Fee and Harriet Drusch tied for first in flight A. Dorothy Holland won closest to the pint on hole No. 15. All five golfers represented Kimbeland Golf Course.

Peterman, Grimes win in Chip-A-Ways event

Deanna Peterman and Liz Grimes were the big winners at the weekly Cape Chip-A-Ways at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Peterman was the Class A winner and Grimes won Class B. Linda Williams won the play of the day event and Mary Vancleve won the low putts.
