Southeast volleyball rolls past Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team solidified its hold on third place in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 30-24, 30-25, 26-30, 30-23 win over host Austin Peay Thursday night.

The Otahkians (15-11, 10-3 OVC) received 21 kills and 20 digs from Emily Johnson. Sarah Frost followed closely with 20 kills while Jessica Houpt and Bobbi Carlile added 15 each.

Suzanne Gundlach led the way in digs with 28. Jill Miller added 17 and Carlile contributed 16.

Emily Scannell recorded 67 assists and added 10 digs.

Southeast, which has already qualified for the OVC Tournament, plays at Tennessee State tonight.

Southeast soccer player nets academic honor

Southeast junior Jen Cross was selected to be on the Verizon Academic All-District Soccer Team, it was announced Thursday.

The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Colorado, Missouri, and Nebraska. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.

Cross, an education major, has a 4.0 GPA. She is a defender on the Southeast team that won its second straight Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title and hosts the OVC Tournament that begins today and ends Sunday.-- From staff reports
