Mets capture fall regular-season title
The Mets swept the Rockies in a doubleheader on Oct. 9 to win the regular-season championship in the SEMO Fall Baseball League.
The league, for boys ages 15 to 18, began playoffs in a double-elimination tournament Saturday at Jackson American Legion field. The tournament concludes this Saturday.
The Mets (7-1) took the top seed in the tourney after 8-4 and 15-1 wins against the Rockies. Paul Sander was the winning pitcher in the opener. Josh Boyer won the nightcap.
Cory Chamberlain had three hits for the Mets. Josh Jackson had three hits for the Rockies.
The Orioles (6-2) finished second.
