Dalhousie team captures SEMO Cup

After a two-year stay at Westwood Hills Country Club, the SEMO Cup trophy is headed to Cape Girardeau as Dalhousie Country Club out-shot Westwood by 11 strokes in the final 18 holes to clinch the title. Dalhousie won the tournament with a 673, a 21-shot improvement from its fourth-place finish last year.

The tournament this year featured the same format as before with nine holes each played as a best ball, a scramble, an alternate shot and a Chapman. In the past, the two-some on each squad with the highest score was counted. But this year, whomever on each team had the highest round in each format was not counted.

Dalhousie and Westwood were tied 327-327 after the first 18 holes.

Dalhousie would put it away in the second half of the tournament. Bryan Johnson and Britt Dunham shot a team-best 31 in Chapman play, while Ben Cantrell shot a 33 in alternate shot play.

Kimbeland Country Club finished third with 695. There was a tie for fourth between Kennett and Sikeston (710), followed by Bent Creek Country Club (718), Boot Heel Country Club (722), Hidden Trails Country Club (725), Cape Girardeau Country Club (753) and Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course (774).
