Davis, Vieira set new team records

Brogan Davis and Gabby Vieira both set new Gators team records while earning victories at the Newburgh Chill Out Classic.

Davis lowered his team record in the boys 11 and 12 age group by swimming the 50-yard backstroke in 28.96 seconds.

Vieira lowered her own team record in the girls 13 and 14 500 freestyle by finishing in 4:57.51.

Four Gator swimmers were the high-point winners in their age division. The swimmers were Phoebe Law (9 and 10 girls), Sam Hahs (11 and 12 boys), Helen Wojdylo (13 and 14 girls) and Morgan Morris (15 and older girls).

Wojdylo won five events, while Law took first place in four. Morris touched the wall first in two events.

Hahs finished second in three events.

First places -- Brogan Davis (100 backstroke, 100 individual medley, 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 50 freestyle); Phoebe Law (100 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 100 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 50 freestyle); Morgan Morris (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle); Madeline Siefert (200 breaststroke); Stephen Sugarbaker (400 individual medley, 500 freestyle); Gabby Vieira (400 individual medley, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley); Helen Wojdylo (100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle, 50 freestyle)

Second places -- Samuel Hahs (200 individual medley, 50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly); Morgan Maguire (500 freestyle); Cameron Mejean (200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 25 breaststroke, 50 butterfly)

Howard cards hole-in-one

Cape Girardeau's Dave Howard used a 4-hybrid to ace hole No. 16 at Twisted Oaks Golf Club in Beverly Hills, Fla.

The hole was playing 153 yards.

Tom Guthrie, Bill Bozarth and Cliff Ledbetter witnessed the shot.

It was Howard's fourth career hole-in-one.
