Basketball

* Southeast coaches clinic: The Southeast Missouri State men's basketball program will hold its annual coaches clinic Oct. 6. The clinic is open to the public and coaches on all levels. Baylor coach Scott Drew, Arkansas-Little Rock assistant and former NBA player Joe Kleine and McKendree coach Harry Statham will be the keynote speakers. Cost: $50, which includes lunch. * Two-day academy: The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold a two-day basketball academy at the Shawnee Park Center. Former Southeast Missouri State women's basketball coach John Ishee is among the coaches who will lead the academy. Times are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 9. The first 50 to register receive a T-shirt and lunch Oct. 8. Cost: $100. Info: 382-0088.

Golf

* Southeast baseball tournament: The Southeast Missouri State baseball program will hold its seventh annual Joe Uhls golf tournament Sept. 30 at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson. The four-person scramble will feature three flights in morning and afternoon sessions. Cost: $200 per player, which includes Redhawks apparel, meal, refreshments and practice balls. * Saxony Lutheran tournament: The 12th annual Saxony Golf Classic will take place Friday at Cape Girardeau Country Club. There are tee times available at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Cost: $105 for morning tee times, $115 for afternoon tee times. Info: Saxony Lutheran High School, 204-7555.

* Community Counseling tournament: The Community Counseling Center Foundation's 12th annual benefit tournament will take place Oct. 7 at Cape Girardeau Country Club. The four-person 18-hole shamble will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. after an 11:30 a.m. lunch. Cost: $120. Info: 339-6512.

* Central Hall of Fame induction: Central High School will hold its hall of fame inductions Sept. 24 in the high school cafeteria. There will an 8:30 a.m. breakfast followed by the induction ceremony. Tickets are $8. Info: 335-8467.

Running

* Run/Walk for Christ: The 2011 5K Run/Walk for Christ will take place Oct. 8 at the Southeast Missouri State River Campus. Proceeds will go to the Heartland Sole Providers. Cost: $20. Info or to register: 225-8555.
