Jackson Legion instructional league: Jackson American Legion baseball coach Mark Lewis will host the instructional fall league for eight weeks beginning Aug. 27. Players in grades 9 to 12 will go Mondays and Wednesdays. Players in grades 6 to 8 will go Tuesdays, while players in grades 4 and 5 will go Fridays. All instruction is held at Legion Field and runs from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Cost: $150 for eight sessions or $250 for 16 sessions. Info: Mark Lewis, 979-0286.
Football
Youth registration: Cape Youth Tackle Football will hold registration for players entering grades 2 to 7 and younger than 15 years old. Player must weigh less than 200 pounds, and the league is open to boys and girls from any county. Registration will take place at the Osage Centre. Registration will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Players must attend the registration session to be weighed and fitted for equipment. There will be six games for each team, practices start Sunday, and the first games are Sept. 23. Cost: $75 for second- and third-graders; $95 for players in grades 4 to 7. Southeast Hall of Fame: The Southeast Missouri State department of athletics is welcoming nominations for its 10th Hall of Fame class. Nominations can be made by anyone and must be submitted to sports information director Jeff Honza. Nominations must be made on the official Hall of Fame nomination form available at gosoutheast.com and mailed to the address printed at the bottom of the form. The Hall of Fame represents the entire Southeast community, including student-athletes, coaches, staff, donors and fans. Southeast's Hall of Fame currently includes 71 individuals and 14 teams.
Running
Justice Jog: The 4-mile Justice Jog will take place at 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at pavilion No. 4 at Jackson City Park. There also will be a quarter-mile youth run, which will start at 5 p.m. Registration: splitmastertiming.com.
Steps for Youth Justice run: The 2-mile Steps for Youth Justice run will take place at 8 a.m. Oct. 6 at pavilion No. 2 in Jackson City Park. Registration: splitmastertiming.com.
