AREA BRIEFS: YOUTH CATCH AND RELEASE FISHING DERBY

The eighth annual Youth Catch and Release Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, May 15 at Capaha Park.

Children ages 1 to 15 are invited to test their fishing skills.

There will be many door prizes, including several Zebco rods and reels, tackle boxes and other fishing equipment.

Some bait will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own bait and equipment. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The day's events will include a casting contest.

The event is being sponsored by the Cape Giardeau Parks and Recreation Department, Breakfast Optimist Club and Missouri Conservation Department.
