All elementary and pre-school students are invited to take part in an Easter egg hunt Thursday, April 1. The event will be held in coordination with the Southeast Missouri State-Eastern Illinois softball game and will take place at the new Southeast Softball Complex at the corner of Sprigg and Bertling.
There will be free pizza, soda and candy for all children at the event. The softball game begins at 4 p.m., with the Southeast Kid's Club awards presentation at 5:30 and the Easter egg hunt at 6.
The event is being sponsored by the Southeast Missouri State athletic department. Southeast assistant athletic director Alicia Scott said the event is a way of expressing gratitude for the support the athletic department receives from the Cape Girardeau community.
"We feel this community supports our athletes in a variety of ways and this is a way for us to give something back," she said. "This is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to interact with the community and I think everyone will enjoy this event."
