AREA BRIEFS: JACKSON HOMECOMER 5K RACE

The Jackson Homecomer 5K race and one-mile walk will be held Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Jackson Court House Square.

Entry fee is $7 if pre-registered by Aug. 14 or $8 the day of the race. There is also a family discount, with the entry fee $6 apiece for three or more pre-registered family members.

Age groups for men and women are 0-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59 and 60-over.

The overall male and female winners will receive a $100 savings bond. Awards will also go to the top three finishers in each division of the 5K race. Homecomer ribbons will go to all walkers and the first 100 entries receive T-shirts.

The race packet pickup will be Aug. 17 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at both the Jackson City Hall and Jackson City Pool.
