Fall youth baseball registration

A fall baseball league for area youths ages 9 to 18 is holding registration Saturday and Sunday at the JC Penney courtyard in Westfield Shopping Town.

Registration will be held from 1-3 p.m. each day. Registration cost is $25 for ages 9 to 11 and $35 for ages 12 and up.

Cape Youth Tackle Football League signups

Signups for the 1999 Cape Girardeau Youth Tackle Football League season will be held Aug. 28 and Sept. 4 from 8 a.m.-noon in Capaha Park at the corner of Broadway and Perry.

Jackson soccer league registration set

The Jackson Area Optimist Soccer Association (JAOSA) will hold fall soccer sign-ups on two more upcoming dates at Main Street Fitness in Jackson.

Registration dates: Aug. 11, 6-8 p.m.; and Aug. 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Benefit softball tournament in Jackson

The first annual Benefit Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament will be held Aug. 28-29 in Jackson. All proceeds will go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

This tournament, for men's teams, will be open to a limited number of teams. The entry fee is $100 per team plus two 47 core softballs.

Jackson cross country meeting upcoming

The Jackson cross country program will hold a meeting for all high school and junior high runners (and their parents) Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at the high school.

A guest speaker will be present at the meeting.

Also, junior high cross country practice will begin the first day of school.

Co-ed indoor volleyball league forming

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department is forming a 6-on-6 co-ed indoor volleyball league for 1999-2000.

Cost per team is $216. The league is scheduled to start on Sept. 28-29. Games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Osage Community Centre.

Registration deadline is Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.

Parks & Rec. Dept. sponsors Cardinals Trip

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will hold its second Cardinals Trip Saturday, Sept. 11, when the St. Louis Cardinals play the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ticket and transportation will cost $21.

Fall softball leagues forming in Cape

The Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department is forming fall leagues for the fall co-ed and men's teams.

League play is scheduled to start Sept. 6 at Shawnee Parks Sports Complex.

The season will consist of five weeks and 10 games. Entry deadline is Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. Entry fee is $150 a team and $10 for a player card.

Entry fee is $95 per team plus cart fee. A truck will be among the hole-in-one prizes.
