PERRYVILLE -- Some horrible free-throw shooting kept St. Vincent from seriously challenging visiting Arcadia Valley Tuesday night.

The Indians connected on just 11 of 31 attempts from the foul line as they dropped a 22-point decision.

"If we hit our free throws it's a pretty close game," said St. Vincent assistant coach Bruce Valleroy, who was running the team in the absence of head coach Tim Winkler. Winkler was ill with the flu.

"Overall we hung in there pretty well but the free throws really hurt," Valleroy added.

Chuck Kirn paced the 2-8 Indians with 22 points. Eric Buerck added 11.

Arcadia Valley, now 11-1, placed five players in double figures, led by Chris Carr with 19 points.

St. Vincent was ahead 16-10 in the first quarter before falling behind 20-19 by the end of the period. Arcadia Valley led 42-30 at halftime and the Indians got no closer than six points in the second half.
