PADUCAH, Ky. -- Southeast Missouri State University finished a disappointing Ohio Valley Conference men's golf tournament Wednesday by placing eighth among nine teams.

The Indians ended the three-day, 54-hole event at the Country Club of Paducah with a 929 total after Wednesday's 309.

Austin Peay captured its third straight OVC title. The Governors shot 296 Wednesday and finished at 874 to ease past Eastern Kentucky (889).

Murray State (906) was third, followed Eastern Illinois (913), Tennessee State (922), Tennessee Tech (926), Morehead State (928), Southeast and Tennessee-Martin (936).

Austin Peay's Matt Gallant led wire to wire and earned medalist honors at 5-under-par 211.

Southeast's top finisher was Matt Hillis, who tied for 13th at 11-over 227. Also for the Indians, Woody Hill was 21st (231), Jimmy Blose tied for 22nd (232), Kent Phillips tied for 35th (239) and Brian Sheehan was 44th (257).

Otahkians tennis team signs Canadian player

Southeast women's tennis coach Mike Stevens has signed Daniela Petkova for next season.

Petkova, a native of Boucherville, Quebec, Canada, will be an incoming freshman in the fall. She is a graduate of De Mortagne High School, where she was ranked 44th nationally in singles and 36th nationally in doubles.
