Notre Dame's girls basketball team fell behind by 12 points at halftime and could not close the gap in a 57-52 loss against state-ranked Anna-Jonesboro (Ill.) at home on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (6-4) trailed 36-24 at halftime before rallying in the second half. Anna-Jonesboro scored only 21 points in the second half.
"We played a zone defense in the second half, which they had a little trouble to begin with," Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim said.
Another key to Notre Dame's comeback was its ability to contain Anna-Jonesboro star Kassie Drew. Drew finished with 30 points, including eight 3-pointers, but had only nine points in the second half.
Sommer McCauley led Notre Dame with 19 points and Laura Weissmueller had 10.
Sammy Pitts added 21 points for Anna-Jonesboro.
