ST. LOUIS -- Cardinals fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the world champions on television this season.

In fact, those with cable TV who also get St. Louis NBC affiliate KSDK can watch every game.

The Cardinals on Thursday announced that FSN Midwest will carry 130 games -- up from 110 last season. KSDK, which aired Cardinals games from 1947 through 1987, will televise 20 games, replacing KPLR. The remaining 12 games of the regular season will be broadcast nationally on FOX or ESPN, the team said.

FSN Midwest and KSDK will each televise two spring training games.

Some of FSN Midwest's games will be in high-definition.

Cards sign Springer

The Cardinals signed right-handed reliever Russ Springer to a one-year, $1.75 million contract on Friday, a day after the World Series champions returned empty-handed from the winter meetings.

Springer appeared in a career-high 72 games in middle relief with the Houston Astros last year, going 1-1 with a 3.47 ERA. He'll begin his second stint with the Cardinals, with whom he pitched in 2003.

Springer, 38, held opponents to a .211 batting average last season and right-handers batted only .187. He did not allow a run in 10 of his last 11 outings. He played the last three seasons with the Astros.

He appeared in only 17 games in 2003 with St. Louis, with the highlight coming on a victory in the season opener, before being sidelined by an elbow injury.
