ADVANCE -- Oran rolled while Advance rallied, both winning their semifinal games yesterday to advance onto the championship finals of the Missouri Class 1A District 2 Tournament.
The Class 1A second-ranked Oran Eagles eliminated the Ste. Genevieve Valle Warriors 17-3 in five innings to move on.
Before that, host squad and sixth-ranked Advance rallied from a 6-2 deficit forcing an extra inning to eliminate the fourth-ranked (Perryville) St. Vincent Indians, 11-7.
The winner of today's 4 p.m. rematch will face District 1 winner Bernie.
Oran 17, Valle 3
No. 2 seed Oran (18-5) used an eight-run second inning to take control of latter semifinal contest which sent Valle (3-13) packing. The Eagles rolled from there with a five-run fourth and a four-run fifth put the mercy rule in effect.
Catcher Philip Seyer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs and Travis Friga was 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs. Adam Friga also had two hits for the Eagles.
Dustin Glastetter (10-2) struck out five in three innings and allowed one earned run on 3 hits for the victory. He helped his own cause going 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.
A. Friga came on in relief allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out five in two innings of work.
Billy Loper scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Valle's Adam Basler suffered the loss allowing eight runs (one earned) on three hits.
Jeremy Mueller went 3-for-3 with a run scored for the Warriors.
Advance 11, St. Vincent 7, 8 innings
Garrett Broshuis went hit a game-tying home run in the seventh and and home run in the eighth to lead the top-seeded Hornets into the final.
Advance trailed 6-2 entering the seventh inning, but tied the score on a D.A. Slinkard double and a three-run homer by Broshuis.
Broshius hit a two-run homer in as five-run eighth to go 3-for-5 with six RBIs.
After Advance (16-7) had cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth, Broshuis, on in relief, allowed three earned runs to give St. Vincent a 6-2 lead, but still got the win.
Daniel Turner, Chris Wallace and D.A. Slinkard also had three hits for the Hornets.
Trent Sauer suffered the loss in relief of Dusty Wengert.
