Advance grabbed a 30-point halftime advantage and secured the sixth-straight blowout of the opening day on Tuesday with a 94-46 win over Leopold in the 62nd annual Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament at the Show Me Center.

The sixth-seeded Hornets will face No. 3 Jackson in the quarterfinals today. Jackson cruised by Woodland 90-32 earlier in the day.

"It's just a game," Advance coach Joe Shoemaker said of today's quarterfinal, "and we try to go out there and get better every game. Blocking out and rebounding is something we haven't done real well, so it will be a challenge."

Alex Steil led the Hornets (4-3) with 21 points, Cody Mitchell had 17, Rusty Hendricks had 14 and Jacob Bond added 10.

Matt Stoverink led the 11th-seeded Wildcats (4-4) with 17 points.

Jackson 90, Woodland 32

The third-seeded Indians (7-3) outscored the 14th-seeded Cardinals 30-3 in the second quarter of their first-round matchup and cruised to a 90-32 victory.

Woodland, which was able to slow Jackson early by switching defenses often and shooting well, trailed by only five points, 19-14, at the end of the first quarter. However, the Cardinals found the Indians, particularly Jake Leet, too tough in the second.

The 6-3 junior guard took over the game for a stretch that would see him make a steal, block a shot and feed a teammate a behind-the-back pass for an easy layup. Leet also scored 14 points himself in the quarter and had 18 in the half.

Woodland (2-4) scored only 18 points over the game's final three quarters as it struggled against the size and depth of Jackson. Seth Gaines led the Cardinals with nine points. Teammates Timmy Abner, Chad Gaines and Jordan King scored five points each.

Leet finished with 22 to lead the Indians and found help via 13 points from Antonio Garritano, 11 points from Steven Spradlin and 10 from Matt Lang.

Charleston 69, Oak Ridge 12

In the battle of the Blue Jays, it was the No. 1 seed Charleston that predictably dominated bottom-seed Oak Ridge in the opening round.

Charleston (9-1) started the game with 11 straight points before Oak Ridge's Dustin Meyr put his team on the board with a 3-point shot. The top seed led 24-4 after one quarter and 42-7 at the half.

Justin Clark led Charleston with 12 points through two quarters on six of 17 shooting. A flurry of offensive rebounds over the undersized Oak Ridge team helped both he and his teammates overcome a poor shooting start.

Clark finished with a game-high 16 points and Jamarcus Williams added 14. Jerquawn Sherrell contributed 11 points.

Oak Ridge (1-6) was led by Meyr, who ended with 6 points.
