The Cubs won the opener 7-5, while Advance rolled to a 19-2 victory in the nightcap.
Bell City and Advance split a doubleheader in high school baseball action Tuesday at Advance which resulted in Bell City's first loss of the season after the Cubs opened with six consecutive wins.
Bell City won the first game 7-5, and Advance came back with a 19-2 rout in the nightcap.
In the first game, Garrett McIntyre's two-out double in the seventh to put Bell City ahead.
Clay Dover finished 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs for the Cubs. Cody Bailey had three hits, and McIntyre added two.
For Advance, Daryl Wade had a home run, a double and three RBIs. Jeremy Limbaugh homered for one of his two hits, and Trenton Moses added two hits for the Hornets.
Bell City pitcher Nick Niemczyk improved to 4-0, and Limbaugh suffered the loss for Advance (2-2), which had been state-ranked in the most recent Class 1 state poll but got a late start on the season due to a run to the final four in high school basketball.
In the second game, Advance had 12 hits in five innings. Wade had four hits, and David VanGennip added two for the Hornets.
Baine Stewart had two hits for the Cubs.

Central's Kirk Lohmann shot a 1-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors and lead the Tigers past Notre Dame at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Blake Driskell and Zach Kluesner each shot a 37 for Central, and Brandon Holzum led the Bulldogs with a 37.

Brittany Menz won the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200 individual medley for the Bulldogs. Ashly Ducharme (200 free), Ashley Nenninger (100 free) and diver Emily Huber also earned first-place finishes.

Saxony Lutheran had five top-place finishes and finished third out of nine schools at the Old Settlement Invitational at Ste. Genevieve.
Brandon Etzold (800 meters) and Max Wieser (300 hurdles) each won an individual event and ran on the winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams. Tim Lorenz also had a win in the shot put.
The 1,600 relay team of Grant Lehmann, Alex Jauch, Wieser and Etzold posted the Saxony Lutheran's record time at 3 minutes, 33 seconds.
Ste. Genevieve topped the team standings with 112 points, followed by Festus (106) and Saxony (88).
